Local Club Membership Terms & Conditions
1. Purpose of These Terms
These Local Club Terms & Conditions apply to all members and operate alongside the Toastmasters International (TI) governing documents. By joining the club, you agree to these terms.
2. Membership Commitment Periods
2.1 Initial Membership Term (12 Months)
New members commit to an initial 12-month membership term from the date their membership is approved.
2.2 Renewal Terms (Every 6 Months)
After the initial term, membership automatically renews in 6-month intervals aligned with the TI dues cycle (March and September).
2.3 Contractual Nature of Membership
Membership is a fixed-term commitment.
Monthly payments are instalments toward this commitment, not attendance-based fees.
3. Fees and Payment Structure
3.1 Local Club Fees
Monthly fees contribute to meeting room hire, TI dues, educational materials, club operations, and future commitments. These fees remain payable for the full term.
3.2 Toastmasters International Dues
TI dues are submitted by the club on behalf of the member. Once allocated, the club is financially responsible for them.
4. No Pause, Hold, or Suspension of Membership
4.1 Membership Cannot Be Put on Hold
Members cannot pause, freeze, suspend, or temporarily stop membership or monthly payments during any membership term.
4.2 Payment Responsibility Continues for Full Term
If a member reduces attendance or is temporarily unable to participate,
monthly fees remain payable until the end of their current 12- or 6-month commitment period.
4.3 No Attendance-Based Pricing
Membership fees are not calculated based on meeting attendance or usage of the club.
5. Cancellation & Early Withdrawal
5.1 Resignation
Members may resign at any time, but doing so does not cancel their financial obligation for the remainder of the term.
5.2 No Refunds
Local club fees and TI dues are non-refundable once paid or allocated.
5.3 Re-Joining Requirements
If a member resigns or lets their payments lapse, they must:
- clear any outstanding fees from their term, and
- pay any applicable new-member fee to rejoin.
6. Club Responsibilities
The club agrees to provide a safe, supportive learning environment, regular educational meetings, access to the Pathways learning system, and opportunities for speaking and leadership in line with Toastmasters International standards.
7. Compliance With Toastmasters International
These local terms complement the TI Member’s Agreement & Release, TI Policies, and the Standard Club Constitution. TI documents take precedence if there is a conflict.
8. Acceptance of Terms
By joining or renewing, the member accepts these terms in full.
